Format your writing
Select text for Bold, Italic, headings, and lists. Use the + menu to insert blocks.
Select words in a section body. A dark pill labeled Text formatting appears above the selection. It stays hidden when nothing is selected. Selecting a section heading does not open it.

-
Click Bold or Italic to mark the selected characters. Click the same control again to turn that mark off.
-
Click Heading to restyle the block as a heading inside the current section. While the block is a heading, the control reads Body text. Click it to return to a paragraph. Use this for a subhead, not a sixth section.
-
Click Ordered list for numbered items, or Bulleted list for dots. Click Quote to set the block as a quotation. Click the same control again to return to a paragraph.
-
Leave Link (coming soon) alone. It is disabled and does not insert a URL.
-
Click into an empty paragraph on a wide screen. A + appears in the left gutter. Hover it to read Insert block. Click + for Insert media, Insert file, Insert code block, and Remove node. There is no Divider. On a narrower screen the + stays hidden.
-
Type
/to tag a tool, or@to mention a person. Neither keystroke opens this toolbar.
Click Editor tips for the Here's a tip card. Close it with Dismiss editor tips, or walk the slides with Previous tip and Next tip. One slide mentions a divider that is not in the Insert block menu.
