Show your gear
Most Loved Gear on your profile comes from tools you mention in case studies.
Most Loved Gear on your public profile is built from catalog tools you mention in published case studies. There is no gear field in Profile settings.
- Open
/profileand scroll to the card that holds Patches and Most Loved Gear. About Most Loved Gear reads These are your preferred tools and software based on how they are mentioned in case studies.

-
If you have not published a tagged case study, your empty bar reads Write your first case study. Visitors see No gear insights yet. That bar does not open settings.
-
Confirm Profile settings has no tool picker. The tabs are General, Featured Case Studies, Pins, Notifications, and Account. None of them collect gear.

In a draft, type
/in The context, The challenge, The approach, The tools, or The result, and choose a catalog tool. In Preview mode, the sidebar heading is Tools mentioned. You can also click Add tool and search the catalog. Custom tools from Add new tool stay on that case study and do not appear in Most Loved Gear. -
Click Publish, then return to
/profile. Each catalog tool shows as a small image. A tool with a vendor page links to/vendors/{slug}. Dusted ranks tools by how often they appear across your published work and shows up to five. Removing a tool from Tools mentioned, or unpublishing the story, drops that mention.
Tag the tools you used covers / and Tools mentioned. How vendor mentions work covers catalog versus submitted tools. Earn patches covers the Patches row on the same card.
